Gone in Gambia *

Big Atlantic rollers crash on Africa tonight
crescent moon hangs upside down but everything else is alright
all is peace and quiet till the hound dogs start to ball
me and my guitar we play for nobody at all
and it feels like I’m already gone
like I might never make it back home
from Gambia
hey hey ya ya hot in Africa
hey hey ya ya gone in Gambia.

Everybody smiles and says excuse me what’s your name
your happiness is my pleasure you know the bumsters on the game
see them swarming just like flies around the fresh white skin
me and my guitar we sit quite still and drink it in
and it feels like I’m already gone
like I may never make it back home
from Gambia
hey hey ya ya hot in Africa
hey hey ya ya gone in Gambia.

Out here by the ocean with the warm wind in my hair
wishing you could be here when you suddenly appear
catch my breath your beautiful the moonlight on your face
why don’t we disappear into Africa get lost without a trace
cause it feels like I’m already gone
like I might never make it back home
from Gambia
hey hey ya ya hot in Africa
hey hey ya ya gone in Gambia

Birds from Africa #

Outside the snow is falling, can’t hear it hit the ground
and it’s cold just like your kiss, Summertime is some
where guess is good as mine I wish that I could fly
Birds from Africa, fill the sky.
think I’m going crazy talking to the sky
its a ragamuffin morning got a woman on my mind
try to close my suitcase, something I forgot
can’t remember what it is
Birds from Africa come and go
summertime is somewhere somewhere I don’t know
blazing sunsets mountains all aglow
wish that I could be there wasted all my time
Hanging round these bar rooms
where the whiskey makes the rhymes
Birds from Africa ride the wind.

Ballad of Lucy and Miquel *

Lovely Lucy senor Miquel
dance so fine and they fit so well
just one look and anybody can tell
they’re like a pair of swans
upon a carousel
Rep Dominicana in the morning light
two lovers on the beach
seems so right
eyes intwined you know they might
be together for the rest of their lives,

makin’ real love makin’ real love yeh
yeh yeh yeh

Fuss and fighting won’t let it be
will she take him home
to the land of the free
it’s like an old time movie
by a tropical sea
Senor miquel and Lovely lucy.
Making real love< making real lovr yeh
yeh yeh yeh
Play the reggae music on my guitar
and it drifts in waves to where the lovers are
catch the rhythm and the dancin starts
he says Bob Marley broke my heart
Makin real love makin real love yeh
yeh yeh yeh

Gridlock Hell in Paradise *

Let me tell you ‘bout a thing I saw
Saw the lightning strike
Heard the thunder roar
Sky went black and the rain did pour
Think it started about half past four.
Nothing moving on the edge of town
Nose to tail Caberete bound
Something up ahead must be going down
But don’t step outside, you just might drown
Chaos reigned was a biblical flood.
Half past five didn’t look too good
Horns were honking and some poor soul
In a 4X4 in a ten foot hole
Traffic cop drenched to the bone
Said you better go back if you wanna get back home
Roads they flowed like the Rio Grande
We was all at sea in a foreign land.
Gridlock Hell in paradise
Down some alley where you should not stray
Policeman say it was the only way
One hour later we inched our way
Back up to the main highway
Darkness fell at six forty five
Was touch and go if we would survive
By now the rain started falling hard
People falling over like a house of cards
Landslide started and the road was gone
Was then I thought that my plan was wrong
Red cross man he was so confused
He had a hundred and one casualties to choose from
Gridlock hell in paradise.
By the time it got to nine o one
We was back to where we started from
So we pulled into a petrol station
Trying to analyse the situation.
Wife said good cause I got to go
But there was no hay agua in the old bano
You might think its just a simple matter
It’s what you expect in Puerta Plata.
We got back into that nightmare queue
Someone said should I follow you
I said we all gotta do what we got to do
If we ever want to get back to see Sasua.
Rain it stopped about half past ten
Finally got back on the road again
Tell you once I’ll tell you twice
Was Gridlock Hell out ther in paradise.

Another Planet **

My my hey hey
I woke up on another planet
My my hey hey
I didn’t know that you be on it
But I knew just what to do
Didn’t have to plan it.

Fear is gone,
I feel my wings
Wind blows free
My heart sings oh

My my hey hey
I woke up on another planet
My my hey hey
I didn’t know that you’ld be on it
But we knew just what to do
We didn’t have to plan it

Kodachrome *

They’re cashing in their pension plans
Got a ticket for the tourist trail
Camcorders and a pocket full of cash
And a postcard in the morning mail.

Poverty is picturesque
You wanna capture it on kodachrome
perfect record in 35mil
Then you put it in a drawer back home

Cultures they kalidascope
Got to capture it on kodachrome

Been to Dominica, Been to Goa Costa Rica
Cuba wasn’t half as bad as Bali in the winter
But Mauritious and Mombassa beat
Sri Lanka and Barbados
But Africa gets better all the time.

Been to Acapulca Marakesh and Colorado
Alice Springs was dusty and the
Pyramids were rusty
Thilands got the preachers
Jamacias got the beaches
But Africa gets better all the time.

James Bond meets Dr No *

Oo ee yi yi oh
Take me where the warm wind blow
James Bond meets Dr No
In the land where the mango grow
Where a pretty girl sings a pretty song
Where the sun shines all day long
In the land of the ripe banana
All the work is in manana
If the worlds been getting you down
Been moving so fast the blues come down
Doctor says if you take these pills
Swear to god it’s gonna cure your ills
Better listen up to what I say
You gotta get a plane and get away
Tell your friends that they just won’t see you
Pour yourself a Cubra libre
And let the sunshine do the rest.
Take it straight from the horses mouth
It’s the reason why the birds fly south
No affliction can’t be heeled
With vitamin R it’s signed and sealed
You better listen up to what I say
Get a plane and get away
Tell your friends they just won’t see you
Pour yourself another Cubra Libre
Let the sunshine do the rest

Mary Jane **

When ever I’m feeling low
And I’m in need
I know just where to go
I’ve got a friend in weed
She always makes me feel so fine
Just one kiss
Blows my blues away

Her name is Mary Jane
A ha ha ha
She’s got lots of different names
Every where I go
Everybody knows her well
Just one kiss
Blows your blues away

She makes me dance and sing
A ha ha ha
She makes me play my strings
Everywhere I go
Everybody knows her well
Just one kiss
Blows your blues away.

Ellen Macarthur *

I’ve been sailing in my rockin’ chair
Miss Macarthur well she took me there
High adventure when the wind was fair
And the desperate times we both would share.
We were bound for the southern seas
Riding high on a summer breeze
Crossed the line of nought degrees
Felt a lot like being free.

All alone upon the ocean
Ellen Macarthur and me
All alone upon the ocean she said
This is the only place to be
Feels like heaven to me

Albatros and the Dolphins play
In a world that’s so far away
Doesn’t do you any good to pray
When the wind it blows all night and day
Can’t sleep can’t rest your mind
When your racing ‘gainst tide and time
Got to make it to the finished line
But it’s a long way home
and the sun won’t shine.

Felt the highs and I felt the lows
touched the highs and took the blows
cross the oceans I would never know
To the beautiful places I could never go
Been sailing in my rocking chair
Going places I could never dare
Laying out her soul so bare
I’m at home and she’s still out there.

So Happy *

She’s always up to catch the rising sun
Counts a blessings when the day is done
She seems to think that I’m her number one
Must be something that I said or done
Comes in waves like the rolling sea
Knows me better than I know me
Wakes me every morning with a cup of tea.
And kisses taste like wine.

I’m so happy
Helplessly in love
Head over heels she’s all
I’ve been dreaming of.

Makes me laugh sometimes we cry
For her love I would surely die
Says that I’m the other half of her sky
To this day I don’t know why

She might be an angel
God only knows
Might be an angel
And I
I love her so

And if you ask me well I can’t explain
Sun is shining though it’s pouring rain
Guess it must be that eternal flame
Burning in my heart

Southbound Plane. **

Some people say it’s right to suffer
I know I gotta cry sometimes
Those feelings can be a hard master
Does no good to let it rule your life
Why don’t you buy your heartache a ticket
Put it on some southbound plane
Tell yourself you just don’t need it
Kiss it goodbye till another day
Life’s too short
To live it in the darkness
Does no good to sit and cry
Everybody needs a little sunshine
Spread your wings
Start to fly.
You can live with your head in the sand son,
You don’t have to let the good times pass you by
You could go out dancing with the band
You could hold your head up high.

Orilla Del Mar *

Well I’m feeling fine, in fact
it’s one of those days,
Walking beaches, dogeing waves
But then,
One will get you when yo
Least expect it
It’ll come out of nowhere
You’ll get soaking wet
Then you dodge another
Then you dodge some more
Then you
Jump the dolphin log
Washed upon the shore
You sing Alleylulya
It’s a happy day, you’re just
Walking beaches, dodgeing waves.

There’s a Henry Moore statue on the beach
It’s of a headless man and he’s so incomplete
And there’s a hollow feeling
That he feels inside as he waits on the beach
To catch the next low-high
And it’s a high water gonna drag him down
Caught in the riptide so he just might drown
Storm warning in a big black sky, but I’m
Still chasing rainbows
So am I

Orilla Del Mar, Orilla Del Mar
Orilla Del Mar es en Hispanola
Viva ron and coca cola
Sol es que calor
Orilla Del Mar

Dream of this **

I used to dream of this
Touch of your lips in the night
Holding your body so warm and so tight
I used to dream of this.

I used to dream of this
Sound of your voice that turns
Seconds into hours
Holding your body next to me
I used to dream of this.

You’re my new tomorrow
Take away my pain and all my sorrow
Put all my troubles behind my back
And I’m falling for you

Falling for you.
